Michelangelo e l'amore

This is one of the 'presentation drawings' produced by Michelangelo in the years around 1530 as highly finished works of art in their own right. While demonstrating the artist's extraordinarly skill at depicting the human figure in action, it illustrates the Neoplatonic idea that only actions guided by love can succeed. In the right foreground winged Cupid (love) sleeps, therefore the unguided archers miss their mark.

Con questo disegno, Michelangelo illustra l'idea neoplatonica che solo le azione guidate dall'amore possono riuscire. Ora qui Cupido-Amore dorme a destra in basso. Percio' gli arcieri mancano il loro bersaglio.

Sur ce dessin, Michel-Ange illustre l'idée néoplatonicienne que seules les actions guidées par l'amour peuvent réussir. Or ici Cupidon-Amour dort , ce qui explique que les archers manquent leur cible.
